So I finally buckled down and decided to learn iMovie and y’all, it’s ridiculous fun once you know what you’re doing.
That said, this dizziness-inducing video was made earlier today along Big Creek here in Roswell, GA. The creek is near flood stage so much more dramatic than usual. I tried the video with the music overlaying the sound of the creek but the balance was off.
The music is Thompson’s “Alleluia.” It lines up kind of nicely with the footage near the end.
I have a new piece up on Vulture about M.I.A., her new mixtape, and the way listeners warmed back up to her after a rough summer. I.e., mostly stuff the music geeks among you will know about, except for one realization — ever noticed how often M.I.A. uses food as a way of talking about identity? From the mango to the tequila to the cinnamon in the coffee? How freaking apt is it that she got needled with those legendary truffle fries??
